Eyeglass Examination
A comprehensive examination of the ocular health of the eye from front to back. Biomicroscopy evaluates the anterior portion of the eye for infection, allergy and cataracts.
A dilated examination of the posterior portion of the eye (which is included with a comprehensive exam) facilitates evaluation for glaucoma, hypertensive and diabetic retinopathy, tumors and retinal holes/detachments. Scanning laser digital photographs are offered as an alternative to the traditional dilation to avoid the side effects of blurry vision and increased light sensitivity.
A detailed refraction of the patient's visual system to determine the best spectacle prescription for distance and near vision.
A screening for glaucoma including a visual field screening, intraocular pressure evaluation (no air puff test!) and optic nerve evaluation is conducted on every patient.
